We need many small farms that want to keep
and raise heritage breeds of livestock to maintain
diversity in our food systems. We see an opportunity
for small farmers to provide a local source
of meat to the growing number of people concerned
with the safety of their food who no longer
want to be wholly dependent on large-scale
agriculture. Large farms offer cheap food but
at a high cost to our global environment and
to the detriment of our rural areas.
